Corporate Social Responsibility - The WAWE Environmental Programme
WAWE is the PHS Group’s new environmental protection programme.
Although we have always been environmentally conscious and the Group has a low carbon footprint we believe it is right that we continue to focus on how we can reduce our impact further.
We also believe that simple measuring our carbon footprint does not provide a real assessment of our environmental impact and for this reason we go further, focusing on Water, Air, Waste and Energy (WAWE).
Air and Energy usage determines our carbon footprint, but we also focus on water and waste. The purpose is to save water, limit air pollution, minimise the waste we send to landfill and reduce the energy we consume.
To help achieve these goals:
- We measure the company’s performance every period (down to site level)
- Every Division is challenged to develop and implement plans which are reviewed as part of the business planning processes
- A WAWE board has been recruited from across the business to track performance and champion best practise across the group
- Our staff are actively encourage to send in environmental suggestions and be part of the development of this initiative
