PHS Datashred welcomes new shredding standard
A new British Standard for the secure destruction of confidential material, BS8470, was launched this week. The standard covers a range of security features including shred sizes, CCTV systems, security vetting of staff and collection vehicle specification.
The British Security Industry Association (BSIA), the professional trade association for the secure destruction industry, has played a leading role in developing the new standard and as an originating member of the BSIA, PHS Datashred will be one of the first companies to be vetted to the BS8470 standard as part of ISO 9001:2000.
A major factor in the development of the new standard has been the need to provide businesses with further confidence that their information destruction company works to the highest of standards.
Welcoming the new standard, PHS Datashred Commercial Director Anthony Pearlgood comments: "The new standard shows businesses exactly how a professional information destruction company should be operating and allows customers to make an informed choice about who they give their confidential material to. PHS Datashred is delighted to have been part of the team that developed these standards and is proud that our customers can rest assured that their information is already dealt with in strict compliance with the new BS8470 standard.”
