PHS Group Launch Chemical Waste Division

Workplace services provider PHS Group has launched a major new operation to boost growth in the chemical and hazardous waste market.

Three companies in its Wastemanagement arm have been brought together and integrated with two new acquisitions to form a separate Chemical Division. All five specialise in chemical and hazardous waste disposal and PHS says their shared expertise, experience and quality will enable the group to focus more intensely in that field.

Clare Noble, Wastemanagement’s managing director, says "Wastemanagement will continue to concentrate strongly on pharmaceutical, clinical and dental waste. But the new division will enable us to sharpen up the value we offer in the hazardous and chemical waste market and will give us much greater definition. It will also build on the high quality and qualifications of our sales and operations staff, broaden our range of service and support our overall drive to be the UK’s specialist supplier of choice."

The three companies - all PPC licensed waste transfer stations - forming the new division are Reformation, based at Ormskirk, SWS of Newark and Wastecare (GB) of Stevenage.

The two acquisitions are RRM of Atherstone, near Tamworth, focused on in packing and listing laboratory smalls, and De-Pack, of Burton on the Wold near Loughborough, which specialises in aerosol s recycling.

PHS Group chief executive Peter Cohen says: "This integration displays our absolute commitment to strengthening and growing our waste management operations and to continue to be one of the UK¹s leading providers. This approach allows us to offer a nationwide service whilst retaining the local response and expertise valued by our customers"
